Aunt Eshrat revives a traditional textile manufacturing method in Iran

Eshrat Kaveh, an Iranian entrepreneur, has revived a traditional textile manufacturing method in Iran.

Many traditional arts and crafts have been fading with the advent of modern industries, but nowadays these crafts are attracting much attention and many people are trying to rediscover them and bring them into life.

Eshrat Kaveh, known as aunt Eshrat, is an Iranian woman living in the historical village of Rooieen in the Iranian North Khorasan Province.

The 52-year-old entrepreneur revived and expanded the traditional way of textile manufacturing, a method that was pursued by many families in the North Khorasan province.

Her efforts to maintain the traditional method resulted in a rediscovery of the craft and now around 79 people are working for her.

As aunt Eshrat says the craft was delivered from generation to generation by mothers teaching their daughters.  

Aunt Eshrat provides her employees with necessary materials and they work at home to deliver the precious art, the interesting method and the high-quality textiles to the new generations.

 They have been successful in producing enough textiles and towels to be exported to other provinces of Iran. Aunt Eshrat is also teaching the craft to enthusiasts around the country and is expanding her workshop to cover more related activities.
